I love the interplay of color, texture and luminosity in photography. They allow me to get beyond the obvious, the surface, and into the essence of my subject: to express my perspectives and to share them with others.

Color grabs my attention first: the specific hue and level of intensity of a magenta, a purple or a teal. Then I its the details brought out by the texture of a flower’s petals; the lines and patterns of leaves, mountains, water and skies. The impact of light playing on the subjects, creating sunrises and sunsets and sparkling on the water; the sparkles and reflections seen on oceans, rivers, lakes, and rainbows intrigue me. I love the light that plays off the droplets sent flying by waterfalls, waves or rapids…or the light reflected in water droplets sitting on or draping down from flowers.

The brilliant colors in flowers, water, mountains and skies are amazing. I’m smitten by the intense colors in a flower, sunrise or sunset. The texture of a flower petal, a leaf, a field just speaks to me about my subject’s essence. Light is special too, creating sunrises and sunsets, shining down to create different ‘chapters’ about various aspects of my subjects’ stories. Bright light, soft light, indoor light and outdoor light…they all tell the tale a little bit differently

Color, Texture, Light…. they’re all there just waiting for me and my camera so that I can explore and share my visions. What do you see and feel when you look?
